Coproduction Project

Let’s work together to help shape the Future of Carer Support in Gloucestershire

Do you support someone in Gloucestershire?

Your experiences and insights are invaluable, and we need your help to make a real difference.

We are starting an exciting journey  aiming to transform the way unpaid Carers  receive information, advice,  guidance and support. We also want to gain your views on the digital offers and look at how we can improve the experience of entering or leaving hospital from a carers perspective.

We believe that the best solutions are created with the people who will use them, and that’s why we’re inviting you to join us to contribute to some exciting projects through Co-production.

What is Co-production?

Co-production is about working together as equal partners. Your lived experience as a Carer will be at the heart of created solutions, ensuring that the solutions we develop together can truly help meet the needs of Carers and the people they care for.

Our aim is for you to have a direct influence on how services are designed, delivered, and evaluated.

Why Get Involved?

  • Make a Real Difference: Your unique perspective and lived experience can influence the development of services that support Carers across Gloucestershire.
  • Shape the Future: Be at the forefront of creating innovative and accessible solutions for unpaid Carers.
  • Share Your Expertise: Your experiences are valuable and will help in understanding the challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Connect with Others: Collaborate with other unpaid Carers, professionals, and organisations who are passionate about improving unpaid Carer support.
  • Learn New Skills: Gain experience in project development, research, and solution design.
  • Be Heard: Aim for  your voice to be central in the development of services that impact your life.

How can I be involved?

Participating in Co-production Projects

If you are looking for a direct and collaborative role, we have three exciting projects where your input is crucial.

1. Revolutionising Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) for Carers

Carers have told us of the importance in having the right information and advice, at the right time, and in ways that works best for them.

We’re working on:

  • Understanding the barriers you face: By sharing your experiences and thoughts, we can identify together what makes it difficult to find and access the information and advice you need.
  • Evaluating our current Information, Advice and Guidance offer: Develop a deeper understanding of what’s working well and what needs to be improved.
  • Mapping your journey as a Carer: We’ll work together to understand your experiences and identify key moments where better information, advice, and guidance could make a significant difference.
  • Ensuring our solutions have a real impact: Together we’ll define what success looks like and how we can measure the positive outcomes of our interventions.

Your involvement in this project could include:

  • Sharing your experiences of accessing information and advice.
  • Participating in workshops to design new ways of obtaining information and advice.

We believe technology can play a vital role in empowering carers, connecting them with the right support in a timely way and some Carers have asked about online options for carer self-assessment.

We’re working on:

  • Exploring the use of a digital self-assessment tool: Imagine a user-friendly online tool that helps you understand your needs and connects you with relevant support.
  • Testing your interest in a digital self-assessment: Develop deeper understanding into whether this type of tool would be helpful for you and other Carers.
  • Exploring the market for existing digital solutions: Look together at what’s already available and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Identifying and implementing a solution that puts you at the centre: It is essential to capture what’s important to you, what facilitates collaboration in assessment and care planning, and what helps in ensuring the positive impact of support in your life.
  • Developing a feedback mechanism: We want to hear about your experience of using digital tools so there can be continuous improvement.

Your involvement in this project could include:

  • Sharing your thoughts on the potential benefits and challenges of a digital self-assessment.
  • Participating in the design and testing of prototypes.
  • Providing feedback on the usability and accessibility of a digital self-assessment.
  • Helping us understand what features would be most valuable to you.
3. Improving Hospital Discharge Support for Carers

Navigating hospital discharge can be a challenging time for unpaid Carers. We’ve heard from you that this experience needs to be smoother and more supportive.

We’re working on:

  • Understanding the barriers you face: Together we’ll explore the challenges you encounter when the person you care for enters or leaves hospital.
  • Supporting better joined up working with Health: Collaborating with healthcare professionals working in hospital and discharge teams is important to improve communication with carers, we’ll work together to have develop better communication and ways of working.
